2. Subject of the agreement
Orthodox Rhythm is a mobile app (iOS + Android) for Eastern Orthodox Christians following the daily liturgical calendar. The service includes:
- Daily computation of Orthodox Pascha, liturgical season, and the day’s fasting rule (strict / wine-and-oil / fish-allowed / fast-free / standard), with a user-adjustable pastoral display setting (Ascetic Rule);
- A daily prayer/fasting checklist;
- Synaxarion (saints’-lives) reading content and scripture citation for every day of the year;
- An Old Calendar / New Calendar jurisdiction setting;
- An optional daily local reminder notification;
- A one-tap Jesus Prayer rope (33-knot Jesus Prayer);
- The current canonical hour of prayer (Digital Horologion);
- Full-year calendar browsing, saints/feasts search, and bookmarks (Orthodox Rhythm Pro);
- A liturgical compass, custom prayer-rope knot counts and prayers, full Horologion prayer texts, Great Feast icon backgrounds, ambient Byzantine chant, and unlimited Diptych/Commemoration names (Orthodox Rhythm Pro).
The service is offered on a freemium basis: today’s fasting rule (with the Ascetic Rule display setting), the daily checklist, the day’s reading, the jurisdiction setting, reminders, the basic prayer rope, and the current prayer hour are free; full-year calendar browsing, search, bookmarks, and the additional features listed above as Pro require an Orthodox Rhythm Pro subscription.
3. Age requirements
This app is intended for a general audience. If your target jurisdiction requires a minimum age for entering into this kind of agreement (e.g. for digital consent or for purchasing a subscription without a parent/ guardian), you must meet that age requirement to subscribe. This app is not directed at children; the minimum age to subscribe is 16 (the GDPR digital-consent threshold applicable in Poland/EU), or your app store’s applicable minimum if higher.
4. Subscriptions, payment, and trial period
Subscription terms disclosure (required by Apple App Store Guideline 3.1.2 and Google Play’s subscription policies):
| Plan | Length | Price | Auto-renewal | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Annual | 1 year | $40.00 USD/year (see the in-app paywall and app store listing for the current, authoritative price) | Yes, annually, until cancelled | 7 days free |
| Monthly | 1 month | $5.00 USD/month (see the in-app paywall and app store listing for the current, authoritative price) | Yes, monthly, until cancelled | 7 days free |
- Current prices are always shown before purchase on the in-app paywall and on the App Store / Google Play product page — those are the only binding sources of pricing (not duplicated here to avoid drift).
- Payments are processed exclusively by Apple App Store or Google Play, via RevenueCat. We do not directly store or process your payment card data.
- Auto-renewal: annual and monthly subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Renewal payment is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Trial period: if you do not cancel before the 7-day free trial ends, you will automatically be charged for the first billing period of your selected plan, at the price shown at the time of purchase.
- Cancellation: you may cancel at any time in your App Store / Google Play account subscription settings — the app provides a direct link to subscription management in Settings. Cancelling does not refund the current, already-paid period; Pro access remains active through the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds: refunds are handled exclusively by Apple or Google under their respective policies — we do not have direct access to payment data and cannot independently issue refunds.
- This Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy are accessible from the paywall screen and from Settings in the app, per Apple’s Guideline 3.1.2 functional-link requirement.
5. User rights and obligations
You have the right to:
- use the service as intended;
- request access to, correction of, deletion of, and portability of your data (see
PRIVACY.md§8); - lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.
You agree to:
- not use the app for unlawful purposes;
- not attempt to circumvent subscription/entitlement checks;
- not misuse the app (automated abuse of any purchase/restore flow, unauthorized access attempts);
- not decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the app’s source code, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- not use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access or interact with the service;
- not misrepresent your identity or impersonate any person or entity in connection with your use of the service.
6. Liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (to the extent permitted by applicable law) any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We take care to compute the liturgical calendar and fasting rules correctly, but do not guarantee perfect accuracy for every jurisdiction, feast, or edge case, and this app is not a substitute for the guidance of your own parish priest or spiritual father on matters of fasting and liturgical practice. You use the app’s content at your own discretion.
To the extent permitted by applicable law (and without limiting any liability that cannot be limited under the consumer-protection law of your jurisdiction, such as liability for personal injury or defective digital content), our liability for indirect damages and lost profits is limited to the amount you paid in the preceding 12 months, except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence.
We are not liable for service unavailability caused by force majeure, App Store/Google Play outages, or damages resulting from inaccurate information you provide.
Indemnification. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the service provider from any third-party claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
7. Intellectual property
- Synaxarion (saints’-lives) content is derived from public-domain sources (e.g. the Prologue of Ohrid tradition) and original summaries written for this app.
- The app’s source code is licensed under the terms in this repository’s
LICENSEfile, if any. - The app does not currently accept or share any user-generated content; names added to Diptychs/Commemorations stay on-device only (see Privacy Policy §2/§3).
8. Changes to the service and these terms
We may change the service (including adding or removing features) and these terms. We will provide at least 30 days’ notice of material changes via an in-app notice or the website hosting this document. If you do not accept the new terms, you may stop using the app and cancel your subscription.
9. Suspension and termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access in case of violation of these terms or applicable law. You may stop using the app and cancel your subscription at any time via your App Store / Google Play account settings.
10. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by Polish law. Disputes are subject to the courts of Poland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights that entitle you to bring proceedings in your own country of residence (relevant for EU consumers). EU consumers may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Final provisions
These terms take effect upon publication. They constitute the entire agreement between you and the service provider regarding the service, superseding any prior agreements on the same subject. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision. You may not assign or transfer these terms without our prior written consent; we may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
