2. What the service is
Hermetic Daily is a mobile app (iOS + Android) offering a daily Hermetic-philosophy reading ritual, based on the public-domain text of The Kybalion (Three Initiates, 1908/1912; Project Gutenberg eBook #14209). The service includes:
- a new daily reading and reflection prompt tied to your day since first opening the app;
- a reference guide to the Seven Hermetic Principles;
- a meditation timer with an ambient completion bell;
- a personal journal for recording your own reflections, stored on your device.
The service is offered on a 7-day free trial, then subscription model: the trial gives full access to every feature; after it ends, today’s reading, the timer, and the Principles guide remain free forever, while full journal history (beyond your 3 most recent entries) requires an active subscription. See docs/FEATURES.md in this repository for the exact, current gating boundary.
3. Age requirements
This app is intended for a general audience. It does not require account registration of any kind (see §4 of PRIVACY.md), so there is no age-gated sign-up step. If your local app store enforces a minimum age for downloading apps with in-app purchases, that store’s own age requirements apply.
4. Subscriptions, payment, and the free trial
Subscription terms disclosure (required by Apple App Store Review Guideline 3.1.2 and Google Play’s subscription policies):
| Plan | Length | Price | Auto-renews | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 1 month | $5.00/month (see current price in-app/in-store) | Yes, monthly, until cancelled | 7 days |
| Yearly | 1 year | $40.00/year (see current price in-app/in-store) | Yes, yearly, until cancelled | 7 days |
- Current prices are always shown before purchase on the in-app paywall screen and on the App Store/Google Play product page — those are the only binding sources of price (not duplicated here, to avoid drift).
- Payment is handled exclusively by the Apple App Store or Google Play, via RevenueCat. We never receive or store your payment card details directly.
- Auto-renewal: monthly and yearly subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Payment for renewal is charged within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Free trial: if you don’t cancel before the 7-day free trial ends, you will be automatically charged for the first subscription period at the price shown at purchase.
- Cancellation: you can cancel anytime in your Apple ID or Google Play account subscription settings. Cancelling does not refund the current, already-paid period; access remains active through the end of the paid period.
- Refunds: refunds are handled exclusively by Apple or Google per their own policies — we do not have direct access to payment data and cannot independently issue refunds.
- This document and the Privacy Policy are accessible from the in-app paywall screen, per Apple’s functional-links requirement in Guideline 3.1.2.
5. Your rights and responsibilities
You have the right to:
- use the service as intended;
- request access to, correction of, deletion of, and portability of your data (see
PRIVACY.md§7 — since all app data is stored only on your device, most of this is already directly in your control); - lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Poland: the President of UODO).
You agree to:
- not use the service for any unlawful purpose;
- not attempt to circumvent the app’s subscription/trial gating through technical means;
- not redistribute the app’s bundled content beyond what the underlying public-domain license (Project Gutenberg) and this app’s own license permit;
- not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- not use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access or interact with the service;
- not misrepresent your identity or impersonate any person or entity in connection with your use of the service.
6. Liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (to the extent permitted by applicable law) any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We make reasonable efforts to keep the app functioning correctly but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and the daily readings and reflection prompts are offered for personal, reflective use — not as professional advice of any kind (medical, psychological, legal, or financial).
To the extent permitted by applicable law (and without limiting any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for personal injury or for defective digital content under applicable consumer-protection law), our liability for indirect damages and lost profits is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim, except in cases of intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
We are not liable for service unavailability caused by force majeure, outages on the part of Apple/Google/RevenueCat, or damages resulting from false information you provide.
Indemnification. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the service provider from any third-party claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
7. Intellectual property
- The daily reading content is drawn from the public-domain text of The Kybalion (Three Initiates, 1908/1912), sourced from Project Gutenberg eBook #14209 — see
AGENTS.mdin this repository for the exact provenance and generation process. - Journal entries you write remain your own. You grant us (in the narrow technical sense of “the app running on your device”) only the ability to store and display that content back to you, locally, as part of the app’s own functioning — nothing is transmitted elsewhere.
- The app’s own source code is covered by the license in this repository’s
LICENSEfile, if present.
8. Changes to the service and these terms
We may change the service (including adding or removing features) and these terms. We will announce material changes to these terms at least 30 days in advance via an in-app notice and/or email. If you don’t accept the new terms, you may stop using the app; since there is no account to delete, uninstalling the app is the equivalent action (see PRIVACY.md §6).
9. Suspension
Because there is no account system, we have no mechanism to suspend an individual user’s access directly. We reserve the right to restrict distribution of the app itself (e.g., removing it from an app store) in case of violation of these terms or applicable law.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Polish law. Disputes are subject to the courts with jurisdiction over the service provider’s registered address, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights — a consumer retains the right to bring proceedings before the courts of their own EU member state of residence. Consumers may also use the EU’s Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Final provisions
These terms take effect upon publication in the app. They constitute the entire agreement between you and the service provider regarding the service, superseding any prior agreements on the same subject. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision. You may not assign or transfer these terms without our prior written consent; we may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
